John Pinheiro
Vice President of Legal & Human Resources, General Counsel and Secretary
John Pinheiro is Vice President of Legal and Human Resources, General Counsel and Secretary for FileMaker, Inc. a worldwide leader in desktop-to-Web database software.
Pinheiro oversees all legal and human resource matters worldwide for FileMaker, Inc. and its corporate subsidiaries. He is responsible for employment and employee relations, acquisitions, software licensing and distribution agreements, litigation, intellectual property and other legal and human resources areas. He serves on the company's executive staff and advises management on all legal and human resources issues.
Pinheiro has served as the V.P. of Human Resources since 1999, the V.P. of Legal since 1998, and the General Counsel since 1997. He was a Director and Corporate Counsel from 1992-1996.
Prior to joining FileMaker, Pinheiro was associate attorney at Gray, Cary, Ware and Freidenrich of Palo Alto, Calif., in the corporate department and products and technology group, 1988-92, where he counseled software and other technology clients. He specialized in intellectual property, licensing and distribution agreements, venture capital financings and securities transactions.
He holds a J.D. degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley, where he was editor in chief of the High Technology Law Journal. He also holds a B.B.A. Accounting degree from the University of Notre Dame.
