Productive Computing Ships Biometric Fingerprint Reader Plug-in for FileMaker Pro
SAN DIEGO, CA – February 1st, 2011 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, today announced the release of the Biometric Fingerprint Reader Plug-in for FileMaker Pro.
The Biometric Fingerprint Reader plug-in allows for fast identification and secure verification capabilities that enable your FileMaker Pro scripts to recognize individual users without requiring passwords or card swipes. This technology can be used to recognize and authenticate individuals based on who they are, instead of what they know (passwords or PINs) or what they possess (keys or swipe cards). It does not replace the built-in FileMaker Pro security model but simply augments it to provide your solutions an additional layer of user authentication. This can be used in a variety of ways – from sign-on and confirmation of important actions to special approvals by other users – to help combat fraud and boost customer efficiency.
Common uses of biometric authentication in software solutions:
- Accountability – Fingerprints can link actions to specific individuals – deterring inappropriate behavior and eliminating fraudulent activity.
- Workforce Management – Fingerprints provide accurate time and attendance tracking, reduce waste and ensure accuracy.
- Loss Prevention – Supervisor fingerprints can be required for special actions, facilitating adherence to corporate policies.
- Compliance – Fingerprints can be used to provide an audit trail identifying who came in contact with sensitive data.
The Biometric Fingerprint plug-in works with the U.are.U 4500 Reader device made by Digital Persona. This device was specifically designed for business critical applications that require a high-level of durability and high degree of accuracy from fingerprint readers. The compact design, high quality metal casing and special undercoating ensure reliable performance over the widest population of users. The unsurpassed performance and design deliver unequaled accuracy with dry, moist or rough hard-to-read fingerprints in any shared environment.
A single user Biometric Fingerprint plug-in license and hardware device is priced at $299.95 and compatible with FileMaker Pro 8 or later on the Windows platform.
