FileMaker has released FileMaker Pro 9.0v3 and FileMaker Pro 9.0v3 Advanced, available now via a downloadable update. The 9.0v3 update provides compatibility with Mac OS X Leopard, and allows Instant Web Publishing to work.

Conditional Formatting in FileMaker Pro 9

"I want this to turn red when there's a problem" is a request I hear frequently. The users could be referring to just about anything in the database. They want some visual indication if something is abnormal. The classic case is the status of a past due invoice; they want that "Past Due" flag to show up in red. But it could be anything that needs attention. Although there are several techniques for achieving this request, they all involve defining calculation fields or running scripts. Now, however, you can make that text turn red, purple, bold, italic, and move right on the layout.
