Third-party Press Release
FM::NEXUS RELEASES INSPECTOR 1.1
Comprehensive Analysis Tool That Helps FileMaker Developers Build Better Solutions is Now More Than 3x Faster
Inspector thoroughly analyzes the metadata of solutions built
with
FileMaker software to provide the essential information developers
need to build rock solid solutions, execute intelligent maintenance
and keep solutions problem free. Inspector 1.1 is also a
maintenance release with fixes to reported issues.
The Inspector 1.1 update is free to currently registered Inspector
customers and available immediately from the FM::Nexus web site at:
"Inspector 1.0 shipped less than 4 months ago, and already many
developers swear by it," explained Vincenzo Menanno, founder and
president of FM::Nexus. "We are excited to deliver to FileMaker
developers several of the enhancements they suggested, plus new
preferences and some fun, useful interface adjustments.
We're also thrilled performance consistently clocks-in around 375%
faster. Whether a current Inspector customer, or just learning how
Inspector helps debug faster and improve quality this is an
exciting update."
Inspector 1.1 provides a new bug indicator icon to identify
scripts steps that contain problems rendering them web incompatible
for instant web publishing, custom web publishing or when using
FX-PHP. Search also now recognizes incompatible script steps.
Fixed problems are now indicated with a blue-dot and disclose the
applicable change upon hovering. Now, developers can attach notes
to any red-dot or blue-dot indicated records that have been
flagged. Comment notes provide instructions or assistance, for
inclusion in reports by specific area to one's development team.
New reporting options in version 1.1 cover privilege records,
layouts, value lists, scripts and fields associated with a
particular basetable. Now developers can export Database Design
Report (DDR) information. Inspector 1.1 also provides new problem
detection preference options and several fixes to reported
issues.
How Inspector Works
Using FileMaker's DDR, Inspector quickly and thoroughly analyzes
the
metadata to provide an eye-popping visual overview of basetables,
table occurrences, layouts, layout objects, scripts, fields,
privilege sets and much more. The analysis result clarifies the
structure, elements, relationships and other crucial information,
graphically highlighting problems in troubled areas for a quick
understanding of which issues require attention.
Providing detailed information for deletion decisions, Inspector
displays
the references and dependencies used by any element, such as a
field or layout, with visually striking green arrows and green
dots. Inspector's search function is extremely comprehensive and
flexible, providing the ability to search within any calculation
for any element, field, text, function, custom function, plug-in
function, table occurrence or literal string.
Security Perspective provides a quickly readable visual
presentation of
elements in security-impacted areas. Comparison Checking shows
what's been changed, and how it's been changed, between multiple
analyses. As a runtime solution, Inspector allows developers to
utilize it alongside their solution development.
Inspector facilitates change documentation, whether for ones own
records, team members or clients.
