| Protecting objects from change |
| You can prevent objects from being changed, edited, moved, or deleted from a layout by locking them. |
| To lock objects on a layout: |
| 1. | In Layout mode, select the objects you want to lock. |
|
|
For more information, see Selecting objects. |
| 2. | Choose Arrange menu > Lock. |
|
|
The handles of each selected object turn gray to indicate that the object is locked. |
| To unlock objects: |
| Select the locked objects, and then choose Arrange menu > Unlock. |
| Notes |
| Locking a field in Layout mode does not prevent changes to the information in Browse mode. For details on securing data, see Protecting databases with accounts and privilege sets. |
| When you copy or duplicate a locked object, the copy isn't locked. |
| When you group objects that include a locked object, the grouped object is locked. For more information on grouping objects, see Grouping and ungrouping objects. |
| Locking doesn't prevent changes to the stacking order. For more information, see Moving objects forward or backward on a layout. |
| You can lock tab controls. Objects on tab controls won't be locked unless you select them. |
| Locked objects can't be set to automatically resize when the window is resized. For information, see Setting auto-resize options for layout objects. |
