| Specifying formats for time fields |
| You can control how FileMaker Pro displays time values in fields. |
| To specify formats for time fields: |
| 1. | In Layout mode, select one or more time fields or calculation fields with a time result. |
For more information, see Selecting objects. |
| 2. | Choose Format menu > Time. |
| 3. | In the Time Format dialog box, select the formats you want to use. |
You see an example of the options you choose in the Sample area. |
| 4. | Click OK. |
You're finished unless the time format you chose displays seconds. If you want to format the seconds component to display fractional seconds, continue with the next step. |
| 5. | Choose Format menu > Number. |
| 6. | In the Number Format dialog box, select the formatting options you want. |
Only two options affect the display of the seconds component: Fixed number of decimal digits and Decimal separator. The remaining options have no effect. For more information, see Specifying formats for fields containing numbers. |
| 7. | Click OK. |
| Notes |
| To format a time symbol (which displays the current time), select the symbol "::" (two colons) in Layout mode, choose Format menu > Time, and then format it as you would a time field as described above. For more information about the time symbol, see Inserting the date, page number, or other variable onto a layout. |
| For more information about defining time fields, see Defining time fields. |
