Using the object grids
Use object grids to precisely control the placement of objects (including T-squares) on a layout. When object grids are on, each object on the layout "snaps-to" its own invisible grid (which may be different from another object's grid). When you move or resize an object, it snaps to the nearest grid coordinate. New objects are created aligning to the "master" grid.
To In Layout mode, do this
Turn the grid on or off
Choose Arrange menu > Object Grids. To turn it off, choose Object Grids again.
Override the Object Grid's snap-to effect
Press Alt (Windows) or ⌘ (Mac OS) as you drag an object.
Change the object grids unit of measurement
Choose Layouts menu > Set Rulers. In the Set Rulers dialog box, for Grid Spacing, type a value and choose a unit of measure.
Notes
The object grids function independently of the ruler gridlines, graphic rulers, and T-squares. For more information, see Using graphic rulers and ruler gridlines.
If you created objects before turning on object grids, they may not be aligned, and when you reposition them, they will move in accordance with their own grid.
For more control over aligning objects, choose Arrange menu > Align. For more information, see Aligning or distributing objects.
When you change the object grids' unit of measurement in the Set Rulers dialog box, FileMaker Pro saves the setting with the document.
