Tutorial 301:

New in 16

Tutorial 301: New in 16

Overview

What to Expect

In this tutorial, you’ll learn about some of the most significant new features included in the release of the FileMaker 16 platform.

The lessons include:

  • How the new Layout Object Window makes it easier to make changes to a complex layout that contains stacked and grouped objects.
  • Ideas on how to use a Card Window for more nuanced interactions with the user.
  • What the new JSON tools do to help you integrate your custom app with other apps.

The content in this course is independent of the other courses in the Tutorial series. Courses 201 and 202 walk you through the process of developing and enhancing a specific, sample custom app. Tutorial 301: New in 16 doesn’t focus on a single use case. It uses different examples to introduce features that are new to the platform.

Another difference from the other courses is that these lessons are not progressive. You can watch them in the order that you need — if there’s one topic you want to dive into first, feel free to skip to that video.

Who is this for?

Tutorial 301 assumes a basic understanding of how to create custom apps on the FileMaker Platform. If you are new to creating custom apps with FileMaker, you’ll still benefit from the videos — you just might want to walk through some of the earlier courses as well before you begin putting these ideas into action.

While we encourage all developers to read the full release notes , you can use these videos as quick tutorials to get you started benefitting from the new features right away.
