Revival Soy , a manufacturer of popular soy-based nutritional products, has turned new and appealing ways to prepare soy-based nutritional products into the basis for a healthy business. Business challenges

 Revival Soy products offer consumers a tasty, convenient way to enjoy the benefits of soy protein, delivered directly to their homes via an efficient online ordering system. And that system draws its power from a powerful network of FileMaker Pro databases. "FileMaker Pro is the software backbone of Revival Soy,” comments programmer Mack Richardson. "It takes and processes orders, manages inventory, charges credit cards, tracks our marketing programs, and tracks communication with customers.”

Successful solution

 Revival Soy's been using FileMaker Pro since version 3, and now runs more than 150 FileMaker databases on five servers. "Our main order database contains over a million records,” Mack notes. And as the growth of Revival Soy means ever increasing data management challenges, it's essential that FileMaker Pro keeps up with new demands without getting bogged down in development.

 Rapid and flexible development is a longtime FileMaker Pro hallmark, and that tradition continues in the new FileMaker Pro 7. But the many new features of FileMaker Pro 7 don't render Revival Soy's original databases obsolete. "Even without the new scripting and design features, FileMaker Pro 7 has extended the life and improved the performance of our new databases,” continues Mack. "The new database engine in FileMaker Pro 7 that allows file sizes up to 8 terabytes is worth the price of admission alone. The improved performance when working with large datasets is great!”

The improved relational interface in FileMaker Pro 7 earns plaudits from Mack as well. "The new relational model has helped me keep my tables much cleaner,” he explains. "Our customers are going to benefit greatly when we deploy FileMaker Pro 7 across our entire operation—faster access to new views of data will give our customers and representatives knowledge instead of just data.”
