'FileMaker Pro is the heart of a mission critical workgroup solution we use to keep the department running smoothly,' says Dennis DeMattei, manager with the Santa Clara County Department of Planning and Development (SCCDPD). 'We use it to automate many labor intensive tasks, as well as track performance measures, even department finances,' he adds.
Accessed by more than 100 users, the SCCDPD's in–house developed FileMaker Pro solution consists of 50 databases running atop multiple MAC OS and Windows–based personal computers networked via AppleTalk and TCP/IP. The databases average between and 5 and 30 layouts and 15,000 records, with the most housing more than 430,000 records.
DeMattei has many uses for his FileMaker Pro solution including land use application tracking, expiration tracking, time tracking, fee tracking, building permit sign–off approval, and a myriad of others.

FileMaker Pro has also delivered fantastic results to the SCCDPD. For example, the department has reduced the land use inquiry search time from 15 minutes to only a few seconds, because they no longer have to manage paper files.
