ITENOS GmbH
ITENOS GmbH Gains Greater Connectivity to Enterprise Systems with FileMaker Server 5.5
ITENOS GmbH had relied on FileMaker Server 5.0 to handle the
company's ticket trouble system for quite some time. In mid-August,
the service and solution provider ITENOS decided to upgrade to the
new FileMaker Server 5.5 and its substantial new benefits.
'For our purposes, the ODBC driver, above all, was paramount.
Version 5.5 now enables queries to be executed in both directions,
which simplifies communication with other enterprise-wide database
and IT management solutions considerably,' comments Frank
Reiferscheid, system analyst at ITENOS GmbH's Technology Center .
'The Web Companion also rings tremendous benefits to our enterprise
because it streamlines internal as well as external communication
significantly.'
ITENOS began testing FileMaker Server 5.5 on August 13, 2001, with
extremely positive results: 'This is the future,' notes
Reiferscheid. According to sources at ITENOS, the Red Hat-certified
FileMaker Server 5.5 also runs flawlessly on Suse. Developers at
ITENOS extended several libraries, customizing them to suit the
special requirements of the pure UNIX operating system Solaris 8.
Now the company also employs FileMaker Server 5.5 for this
purpose.
The Bonn-based enterprise relies on FileMaker Server 5.5 to manage
key projects and data. Twenty support personnel enjoy simultaneous
data access.
ITENOS purchased a complete Box Set License for 150 workplaces from
FileMaker last week. 'We are delighted with the FileMaker products.
We considered acquiring licenses for individual PCs – users, that
is – but decided instead to opt for a comprehensive license program
covering the entire enterprise. Now we have an effective and
low-cost solution up and running,' explains Reiferscheid.
