Where does FileMaker Pro fit?
FileMaker software is highly customizable and allows solutions to be rapidly created and modified in real-time. Security
FileMaker accounts and privilege sets can be customized down to exact users or specific database fields. Manage your FileMaker solutions using existing external network authentication via Active Directory or Open Directory. Encrypt data transferred between hosted databases and desktop clients using SSL.
Network Configuration
Completely redesigned, FileMaker Server can be installed and configured in 20 minutes or less (for basic installations). Administer databases locally or remotely and automate administrative tasks with the Admin Console. FileMaker Server improves the performance and security of shared databases. FileMaker Server 12 supports a network of 250 simultaneous connections, and FileMaker Server 12 Advanced does not limit the number of FileMaker Pro connections. Limitations are imposed only by your hardware and operating system.
Connectivity
Establish live two-way connections to external SQL data sources such as Microsoft® SQL Server, Oracle and MySQL. Or use open ODBC and XML standards to share data with other applications.
