Version History

1. New in FileMaker Server 8.0v4

1.1. FileMaker Server is now more stable if it is stopped while under load.

1.1.1. Fixed a problem that caused Server to ignore a stop –y command.

1.1.2. Fixed a problem that could cause FileMaker Server to quit if a stop command was issued by the FileMaker Server Admin.

1.2. Fixed a problem that could cause FileMaker Server to quit unexpectedly when statistics logging is enabled.

1.3. Fixed a problem that could cause commands to disconnect clients to not be logged.

1.4. Fixed a problem that could prevent new clients from connecting to a hosted database.

1.5. Fixed a problem that could cause statistics to not calculate and display accurately. In certain cases, only incoming bytes were counted. Now both incoming and outgoing bytes are counted.

1.6. Fixed a problem that could cause FileMaker Server to continue to accept new connections after a stop command was issued by the FileMaker Server Admin.

2. xDBC Improvements

2.1. Fixed a problem that caused network problem and a connection to be closed when double quotation marks (“) are used to enclose a character string.

2.2. When “Field Access” is set to NONE, the correct errors are returned for SELECT and DELETE statements.

2.3. The connection is no longer closed when executing SELECT on a field from a table that has been deleted.

2.4. JDBC: Prepared statements for DATE, TIME, and TIMESTAMP bindings no longer return an error.
ODBC: Prepared statements for DATE, TIME, and TIMESTAMP bindings no longer return an empty result set.

2.5. JDBC: setTime(int, Time) no longer causes executeUpdate() to return the error message “[DataDirect][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket][DataDirect][ODBC FileMaker driver]String data, right truncated. Error in parameter 1.”

2.6. In manual commit mode Update when Unique constraint violation now returns an error immediately.

3. New in FileMaker Server 8.0v3

3.1. Finds on an unstored calculation field

3.2. Fixed a problem that caused the entire record set to be returned if a client performed a find on an unstored calculation field if a 7.0 or an 8.0v1 client was connected to an 8.0v2 host.

3.3. Fixed a problem that could cause a FileMaker host to quit if a client performed a find on an unstored calculation field using either the Get(PrivilegeSetName) or Get(ExtendedPrivileges) functions.

3.4. Fixed a problem that caused unstored calculation finds to always be performed at the client, which negatively affected performance. These finds are now performed appropriately at the host or the client, which improves the performance of these types of finds.

4. New in FileMaker Server 8.0v2

4.1. 1. FileMaker Server and FileMaker Server Admin

4.1.1. Fixed a problem that caused external authentication using Windows Active Directory to fail when
FileMaker Server was running on Mac OS X 10.4.x.

4.1.2. Fixed a problem that caused schedules to stop running after one backup schedule failed due to an
error.

4.1.3. Fixed a problem that could cause fmserverd to crash after committing a duplicated schedule.

4.1.4. Fixed a problem that prevented a server administrator from setting the maximum number of
FileMaker Pro clients to zero.

4.1.5. Corrected the error message generated when a backup schedule fails due to an invalid backup
location. The error now correctly shows the backup destination path.

FM API for PHP Standalone patch

If you are using the FM API for PHP Standalone, this archive contains an updated version of that API which must be used instead.

A problem has been fixed in the API that would have caused PHP web publishing to stop working correctly on or after October 7, 2007. You will need this updated version of the Standalone API even if you have updated to FileMaker Server 9.0 v2 or FileMaker Server Advanced 9.0 v2.

This version of the API is only needed if you are using the Standalone version of the API.
