Our Leadership Team

Dominique Goupil


Dominique Goupil has been president of FileMaker, Inc., since 1998. He joined the company (formerly Claris) in 1994 and served as president, vice president of worldwide sales, and vice president, Asia-Pacific.

Goupil holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Business degree from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Rouen, France.

Lucy Chen

Vice President, Worldwide Product Release Engineering

Lucy Chen manages quality assurance, information development, localization and engineering teams in China. Chen joined the company (formerly Claris) in 1995.

Chen holds Master of Science in information systems management and Master of Education from Seattle Pacific University.

Bill Epling

Chief Administrative Officer and President, FileMaker Japan

Bill Epling oversees the company’s finance, information systems, and infrastructure groups. Epling is also responsible for running the FileMaker business in Japan. Epling joined the company (formerly Claris) in 1996.

Epling holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting from Columbia University in New York.

Brad Freitag

Vice President, Worldwide Sales

Brad Freitag leads FileMaker’s sales teams, and he is also responsible for the company’s FileMaker Business Alliance of partners and resellers.

Prior to joining FileMaker in 2013, Freitag held senior executive sales positions at Roambi, Host Analytics, Inc., Hyperion Solutions (now part of Oracle), and IBM. Freitag holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Frank Lu

Vice President, Engineering

Frank Lu leads the engineering teams and sets the direction for database software technology at FileMaker. He brings to this position both insider knowledge of FileMaker and extensive outside experience in software stability, performance, and longevity. Lu first joined the company (formerly Claris) in 1988.

Lu holds a Master of Science degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

Ann Monroe

Vice President, Worldwide Marketing

As vice president of worldwide marketing and customer success at FileMaker, Ann Monroe drives programs and strategies to advance the customer experience. Monroe leads three teams: the customer support and success team, which provides support, learning and community programs; the web team; and the marketing team.

Monroe, who joined FileMaker in 2002, holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Loyola Marymount University.

Dave Williams

Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

David Williams manages the company’s finance, information systems, legal, operations and infrastructure groups.

Prior to joining FileMaker (and its predecessor Claris) in 1995, Williams worked at Apple in the AppleSoft division. Before joining Apple, he served in a variety of roles at financial and high-tech companies. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from San Jose State University.

Sophia Yungen

Corporate Counsel and Secretary

Sophia Yungen oversees legal matters worldwide for FileMaker and its corporate subsidiaries, including software licensing and distribution agreements, litigation and intellectual property. She is a member of the executive staff and advises management on all legal issues.

Yungen holds a J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.
