She received her J.D. from McGeorge School of Law in 1994, her MA in Criminal Justice from Washington State University in 2001, and her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Washington State in 2014. She teaches in the areas of law, homeland security, and emergency management and her research centers around homeland security policy, for which she uses FileMaker for her research database.
