What's included

FileMaker Server 13 is available only as an electronic download and contains product software, product documentation in PDF format, and a link to an electronic license certificate that contains a license key needed for installation.

Languages supported: Worldwide English, French, Italian, German, Swedish, and Japanese.


FileMaker Server 13 supports FileMaker Pro 13, FileMaker Pro 12, FileMaker Go 13, and FileMaker WebDirect.

Databases from older versions of FileMaker Pro will need to be converted to FileMaker Pro 13 in order to be hosted using FileMaker Server 13. Learn more about converting your pre-12 FileMaker solutions.

FileMaker WebDirect

Supported web browsers:

FileMaker WebDirect is accessible from a web browser. Supported web browsers include:

  • Safari 8 on OS X v10.10 Yosemite
  • Safari 6.1.x and Safari 7.x
  • Internet Explorer 10.x or 11.x
  • Chrome 27.x

Concurrent connections

FileMaker WebDirect is accessed using concurrent connections in FileMaker Server 13. One concurrent connection comes with FileMaker Server 13 and additional connections can be purchased through the Server Admin Console or the FileMaker Store. Learn more about concurrent connections.

Recommended Hardware Configurations:

FileMaker WebDirect may require a second machine to be configured as a Web Publishing Server. The number of concurrent users accessing your solution determines the server machine configuration.

FileMaker Server 13 installs what you need to use PHP including the PHP engine, the FileMaker API for PHP, sample code, and documentation. Use the latest version of PHP that FileMaker, Inc. has certified.

Admin Console

The Admin Console is accessed through a web browser from a machine that has network access to FileMaker Server 13. Supported web browsers include:

These versions are the minimum requirements. FileMaker Server may also work with later browser versions certified by FileMaker, Inc.


FileMaker Server 13 does not limit the number of simultaneous FileMaker Pro/Pro Advanced client connections; each FileMaker Pro/Pro Advanced client requires a licensed copy of FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Pro Advanced.

Supports AES-256 encryption of data at rest when the database files are encrypted by FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced. Sharing, reading from, and writing to AES-256 encrypted files is supported by all products in the FileMaker 13 platform.

Supports SSL with AES-256 encryption of data in transit when the database files are hosted with FileMaker Server 13.

Supports third party Certificate Authority (CA) SSL certificates to prevent Man in the Middle (MitM) attacks when the database files are hosted with FileMaker Server 13.
