Hardware requirements

A dedicated computer is recommended for FileMaker Server.

Minimum Requirements Recommended Requirements
CPU: Dual Core
RAM: 8 GB
Hard Drive: 80 GB or more, depending on file size
CPU: 4-Core
RAM: 8 GB
Hard Drive: 80 GB or more, depending on file size
Operating system drive requirements

FileMaker Server uses the operating system drive to provide temporary storage for progressive downloading, uploading and downloading apps, log files, and cache storage used by components such as the Web Server.

To maintain an optimal operating environment, FileMaker Server requires 80 GB or more of storage on the operating system drive even if apps are hosted on or backed up to another drive. The server administrator must monitor the operating system drive to make sure that enough storage is available.

Standby server

To use a standby server, there must be two server machines with identical configurations. Both machines must meet or exceed the recommended hardware requirements specified above — not the minimum hardware requirements. Standby server must be deployed on the same LAN as the primary server. Standby server is supported only for single-machine deployments and not supported for FileMaker WebDirect worker machines.
